Democrats on the Lam

The headline got my attention: Police Hunt Hiding Texas Democratic Legislators. "Well, they've finally done it!" I said to myself. "They finally outlawed the Democratic Party in Texas. Not that it'll make any difference, of course."

Luckily this wasn't the case. The GOP is pushing a new redistricting plan that, naturally, greatly favors the GOP. The Democrats are hiding to prevent a quorum. The Republicans are siccing the cops on them, so they can drag the Democrats back to Austin and hold a vote.

Damn. I wish redistricting was as much fun here in New York...

Feeling Like an Idiot

Happens quite a lot with me, I admit. But I called up HP tech support, told them the hard drive was down. The guy told me to turn my laptop on. I did... and it was fine. Admittedly I had tried this a half-dozen times last night, and got nothing but a blank screen and a whirring CD-ROM drive for my trouble; so it wasn't just my imagination. But I guess the machine just had to cool down for a while.
