Matt in Wonderland
Jun. 24th, 2005 07:46 amWell, Yurup was wonderful, or at least the parts I saw. Ireland: I climbed over mountains and crawled through passage tombs, took fishing boats through rainstorms to abandoned islands, braved the cliffside forts of the Arans and the castles of the Templars, lived in the luxury of country manor and went bar-hopping through the streets of Dublin and Galway. Then I took it easy, wandering along the Seine and the alleyways of Paris, with brief stops for the food and the museums, but nothing too rushed.
All of this was in wonderful weather: The Parisians were complaining when it rose to the 80s, and it never got above 70 in Ireland (where it rained a lot, naturally, but never for too long). Plus, I avoided the Internet and missed most American news, hearing about Jacko but blissfully little else. It's depressing to come back to the Mau-Mauing of Dick Durbin and yet another New York heat wave. I wonder if Trinity could use a stat teacher...
