I agree with most of the specifics in David Edeltstein's review of The Dark Knight, while disagreeing with his conclusion (I was terribly impressed with the movie, despite its creakiness). I'm on the same page, though, when it comes to the awesomeness of "Pretentious English Thespian" Gary Oldman. It's amazing how I've seen the guy in so many roles -- from Sid Vicious to Lee Harvey Oswald, from Sirius Black to Commissioner Gordon -- without ever recognizing him or seeing some distinctive "Oldman style." His Dark Knight performance is so self-effacing it's as if he was pulled of the street. Truly incredible skill.
