OK, I just saw the trailer for Revenge of the Sith, and well ... it looks promisingly grim. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, with George Lucas directing (dude, you've got good actors, let them act fer crying out loud), but maybe Episode III will be more like The Empire Strikes Back and less like The Phantom Menace.

A possible bad sign, though: R2-D2, C-3PO and Chewbacca (or some unnamed Wookie) are all in the trailer. Maybe they have good reasons for being there, but with Lucas you can't be sure. (So young Anakin builds himself a droid, and it's ... a protocol droid. Riiiight.)

R2-D2 and C-3PO are supposed to be the only characters who are in all nine movies. I actually kinda like that, but I wish they’d been handled better in the prequels. Along with everything else but the special effects.

Yeah, I remember hearing that, although I don't remember either in Episode II.

(Just checked ep II's cast and crew (http://starwars.com/episode-ii/bts/castcrew.html). Yep, both C-3PO and R2-D2 were in it, although for the life of me, I can't remember what they were doing there.)

R2-D2 is with Amidala on Coruscant, I guess having been promoted for service above and beyond the programming of droid duty. C-3P0 is also bumbling about, now bronzed.

That didn't look at operatically silly as the other trailer I've seen (the "Lord Vader...riiiiise" trailer). It looks pretty and seems to have a modicum of decent conflict. Almost makes me want to see it. We'll see.

The wookie looks a lot like Chewbacca, but that doesn't mean it is him. I'd like to think it is. Wookies are, IIRC, very long-lived compared to humans. Read somewhere that Han met Chewie when Chewie was a wookie slave to the empire (Han freed him, earning the wookie's devotion...I think that's how it was). Ep III presumably takes place around the time Luke and Leia were conceived, which means Han Solo is just a wee toddler and Chewbacca's probably a teenage wookie?

2 to 1 says the final images of the movie are Amidala realizing she's pregnant; some symbolic gesture. Unless they're going to cover her actual decision to send the twins off into hiding separately and she has the kids before the movie ends.

This Geek Girl moment has been brough to you by my head cold.

First, for the head cold: The (obligatory) poor baby!

I also remember hearing that Wookies were long-lived. Didn't they talk about this in the infamous Star Wars Musical? (Something I'm old enough to have seen on its original broadcast.)

I wonder if Amidala leaves Anakin after he falls in the volcano and comes back as Darth Vader. She would naturally be horrified, but Anakin would be devastated, leading him even farther down the Dark Side...

I really hope it doesn't suck. The possibilities are just too cool, even if they're cool in a horrifying way.
