Sunday's Game
Jan. 28th, 2003 10:43 pmI was fairly satisfied with Sunday's pulp game, Two Fisted Tales. Nobody liked the part I ripped off from Die Hard with a Vengeance, and I don't blame them. But one scene went over pretty well. First, some background...
Artie "The Aardvark" O'Brien was a longtime nemesis of crime-fighting heiress Pauline Alton (
mnemex's character). When Pauline heard that O'Brien had bought a bank, she was horrified; but when she heard it was being robbed she did what she could to stop the robbery.
O'Brien shows up at her door the next evening, with a briefcase and a half-dozen beefy Italians carrying violin cases. Pauline assumed they had tommyguns and called the cops. Fifteen car-fulls arrived, their sirens screaming, and they arrested O'Brien and his gang. But they found that O'Brien was carrying a heart-shaped box of chocolates, and inside those violin cases were ... violins.
"What's the problem?" he asked. "I just came to thank her for saving my bank."
